Liriabana Studio

My background as landscape designer and Ikebana master is present in my ceramics as an expression of imaginary landscapes.  I create individual hand built pieces that look as if they are or were alive without imitating actual plants or landscapes. By emphasizing shape and movement my pieces insinuate life transformation to create something beautiful that honors the natural world.

Within certain simplicity, I love to create illusions of change.  The unexpected keeps us looking, interested, guessing and discovering new things. I want the observant to be tempted to touch and in that way become part of the piece.

My goal is to create interesting objects to invite viewers to look more carefully and discover beauty in unusual places. It is necessary to slow down, to disappear and reconnect with our surroundings.
